Announcement and exploring the United States

Hello readers (again),

I hope some of you are still reading our blog and yet again I’m so very sorry for not updating more often. Things have been manic job wise for the last few months and now I’m officially unemployed. From now on things will be very different in our household. We are leaving London and moving up to Yorkshire. Back to Gawain’s county of birth. Currently we are in the USA and tomorrow we split up with Gawain heading East (for work) and I West(to visit family). We meet up Monday 5th October back in New York before heading down to Atlantic City where Gawain will play in the 3rd (and likely final) Millionaire Tournament. We then return to the UK mid October when we will spend the next few months settling in and getting used to our new work-home life.

I will be now be playing chess semi professionally. I think it’s time to give chess a good shot and I’m aiming to get my WGM title and if possible my IM title. I have one IM norm from the 2013-14 4NCL season. Alongside my new chess studying/playing habits, I will be updating Gawain’s website more frequently, cooking/baking and exercising. I don’t currently have any tournaments planned but I’ll see how things pan out for us over the next few months. We have signed up for a run in Lausanne at the end of October – Gawain will be completing his first ever Half Marathon and I’ll be doing the 10k, we will be doing this with our good friends Chris & Amanda Skulte.

We are currently relaxing in the Riverside B&B, Piermont NY. Piermont is a about an hours drive from NYC and a much needed break from the busy city life. Carolla the lovely B&B owner lives here with her 2 dogs Mr Buttons and Honey. Our room is on top of the creek and every morning we’ve been served a lovely breakfast. We’ve spent time exploring the Tallman State Park and today cycled to the nearby town of Nyack. If you are looking for a lovely break away from the Big Apple we highly recommend you come and relax here. You can walk, cycle, kayak the marshes or just potter around in the town centre.
