I’ll be playing this evening in chess.com’s Titled Tuesday event which starts at 6pm BST. My last few events have gone better and I’ve been challenging for the prizes. I’ll be streaming live on twitch.tv/verdenotte so please come and check me out and don’t forget to follow me.
On Wednesday evening, I’ll be playing a warm up match against my good friend GM Nils Grandelius as preparation for the European Online Rapid Championship. Our category starts on Friday the 29th of May. The European Individual Championships were supposed to be held in Slovenia now but obviously had to be postponed. Instead they’ve set up this online rapid event.
Sitges tried a classical time control online but we’re still a long way from having FIDE Rated games online. Interestingly I played in the first and perhaps only online tournament which was FIDE rated. That was back in 2009. I was living in Melbourne, Australia at the time and played in the ChessCube SA Open. It was an extremely odd experience, especially as the games were in the middle of the night! I was a pioneer back in the day!
Please watch either my stream or Nils’ (although hopefully mine!).
I just wanted to add that if you are intersted in streaming on Thursday, I’ll be joining Sue in watching a webinar by WIM Fiona Steil. You can buy tickets here for what is sure to be a great event
