Last week we were front page news on The Dominion Post – Wellington’s version of The Times, The Sydney Morning Herald etc except without the 1,000,000+ circulation – this shows what NZ news is like. http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/3090527/Check-mates-plot-their-next-international-move This article was publicity for Gawain’s simul at the Museum Of City and Sea (celebrating 10years) which he played on Saturday against 23 players, 7 players over 2000 including the current NZ Champ IM Anthony Ker (2423) and FM Nic Croad (2332). Final Score was +16 =5 -2.

Grandmasters are human! Not so god like and are prone to mistakes (though we “mortals” make them more often then they do lol). Sometimes you just have a bad day – but never give up 🙂

We played tourist too as host to Nat from Denmark. Wellington was surprising sunny but nevertheless windy. We went to various tourist hotspots such as the Botanic Gardens, Cable Car, Te Papa, taking the ferry over to Eastbourne as well as driving around the South Coast.
