South African Open

June 2006, South African Open, Port Elizabeth. This was my first tournament after my final Leaving Certificate exams and my last days of school ever! I went to this tournament more for a holiday than for the chess. I travelled over with a couple of friends and we managed to see some of Africa, a continent I hadn’t been to before this trip. We saw lots of amazing animals and the people there were really friendly. The chess also went really well too and I came 1st with 10.5/11 and won the Blitz Champs as well. We decided to come back to South Africa as soon as possible!
